(Grades 9 & 10)

The Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed for students aged 11 to 16 and provides a challenging, comprehensive framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.

At Symbiosis World School, the MYP nurtures students to become inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and reflective learners, preparing them for both academic success and responsible global citizenship.

The MYP emphasizes conceptual understanding and inquiry-based learning. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore ideas, and develop critical thinking skills through engaging and relevant learning experiences.

Teaching and learning in the MYP are framed through global contexts, enabling students to see the relevance of their learning in real-world situations. This approach fosters international-mindedness and helps students understand their role in a complex, interconnected world.

A key feature of the MYP is the development of Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills, including communication, research, social, thinking, and self-management skills. These skills empower students to become independent and lifelong learners.

Assessment in the MYP is criteria-based, using a scale of 1–8 to provide clear and meaningful feedback. This allows students to understand their progress, reflect on their learning, and take ownership of their improvement.

The MYP encourages students to take an active role in their learning. Through reflection and goal-setting, students develop a sense of ownership and responsibility, becoming confident and self-directed learners.

The IB Middle Years Programme in Pune provides a strong foundation for further study in the Diploma Programme (DP) or other academic pathways. More importantly, it equips students with the skills, attitudes, and values needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
