Primary Years Programme (PYP)
(Grades 3–5)
The Primary Years Programme (PYP), developed by the International Baccalaureate Organization, at Symbiosis World School is offered for Grades 3 to 5.
It is an inquiry-based framework that nurtures internationally minded, confident, and compassionate learners. The programme is organized around six transdisciplinary themes, enabling students to explore real-world issues and build conceptual understanding across subject areas.
Key Elements
- The Learner: Guided by the IB Learner Profile, fostering reflective, open-minded, and principled individuals.
- Learning and Teaching: Focused on inquiry, collaboration, and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.
- The Learning Community: Encourages strong partnerships between students, teachers, and families.
Learning is integrated through units of inquiry, ensuring relevance and depth. Assessment is continuous, supporting reflection and goal-setting. The programme culminates in the PYP Exhibition in Grade 5, where students showcase their learning through collaborative inquiry and action.
Overall, the PYP (Grades 3–5) provides a strong and holistic foundation for lifelong learning.
Middle Years Programme (MYP)
(Grades 6–10)
The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) provides a strong foundation for secondary education,
Ensuring a smooth transition from the Primary Years Programme and preparing students for future academic pathways. Structured around eight subject groups and informed by global contexts, the MYP promotes concept-based, interdisciplinary learning connected to real-world issues.

- Global Contexts: Teaching and learning are connected to real-world issues, promoting international-mindedness.

- Service as Action & Projects: Students apply their learning through meaningful action, culminating in the Community Project (Grade 8).
Assessment in the MYP is criterion-related, focusing on students’ understanding and skill development rather than comparison with peers. The programme culminates in the Community Project, where students engage in sustained inquiry and take meaningful action.
Overall, the MYP offers a balanced and future-focused framework that equips learners with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed for success in further education and beyond.
Diploma Programme (DP)
(Grades 11–12)
The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is a rigorous and internationally recognised pre-university programme designed for students aged 16–19.
The programme develops inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are prepared to excel in higher education and contribute meaningfully to a global society. Through a balanced curriculum, academic challenge, and a strong emphasis on critical thinking and research, the DP equips students with the skills needed for success in university and beyond.
The first IBDP cohort at our school will commence from the Academic Year 2027–28.
